What is a Fankado Card?
A Fankado Card is a trading card featuring creators and other famous people. Fankado cards are “phygital” – both physical and digital. You buy a digital pack containing one digital card of the specific creator you want. When you open the pack, you will reveal the contents – either a base card or one of the limited edition rare cards. The card is automatically added to your digital collection, and you can choose to order the physical version of the card at an extra cost. A card can only be redeemed once.
How do I buy Fankado Cards?
The most common way to get a card is to buy a pack of the specific creator on Fankado. When you buy a pack you get one card of that creator which could be a base card or a more rare card. Packs can contain different types of rares, it could be a numbered card, for example a 1/1 card, 8/99 card, a premium color, an autograph card, a redemption card, or other rarity types. In addition to the cards found in packs, special cards, such as experience cards, may be directly listed on the site by the creators, available for purchase at a fixed price or via an auction.
What are the different types of rare cards?
Every pack comes with one card, it could be a base or other rarity levels. The types of rare vary by pack, and the pack page will have more specific details. The general categories are:
- Grail cards: Grail cards are the most rare in a pack, usually numbered 1/1. There will always be one in a drop and possibly a few more depending on the drop size, sometimes including autographs.
- Chase cards: These are the second most rare cards in a pack, usually also numbered (for example #/99) or featuring limited print styles, special frames, or autographs.
- Rare cards: These are card designs in short supply, and population details will be shared on the pack page.
- Base cards: These are the more common frames, with no numbering or autographs, but still a nice card of the creator.
Do cards have any special benefits or perks?
Some cards may include creator-defined extras—like access to content, community roles, event entry, special merch, etc. Benefits are optional and vary by creator/card; they’re a bonus, not a guarantee. Your digital collection contains ways for you to show that you own the card. Creators will also have ways to message you directly with event links, etc. Cards and packs are sold as non-monetary collectibles and Fankado has no control over any offers/perks offered by a creator.
Fair drops - how drops and pack selection work
Each drop has a fixed size (e.g., 10,000 cards) and a set number of rares (e.g., 100). When a pack is opened a random card will be selected, and then the odds of the remaining cards will be updated accordingly.
Transparent odds - pack odds displayed on packs
On the pack page you will see the odds of pulling the rares available in the drop. Odds update as packs are opened, so to get the latest odds on a pack page please refresh the page in case more packs have been opened since the page loaded. The odds section will display the quantities of each type available. Please keep in mind Fankado only knows the updated odds after a pack has been opened. You are not required to open the packs you buy right away so the odds you see will reflect the odds based on unopened packs, which may not match the number of unsold packs.
Who qualifies to be featured on Fankado cards and collectibles?
The platform is meant to be open to influencers and creators but there are some requirements in place. The main criteria for now is that you must have at least 250,000 total followers across the platforms you create content on (eg YouTube, Instagram, TikTok). For example, if you have 100K YouTube subs, 50K on Instagram and 100K on TikTok then you would meet our audience criteria. Your Fankado trading cards must include real photos of you, preferably in action shots. The photos will be sent for review where they may be adjusted slightly or a request to update them with guidance will be given. We don't allow drawings, cartoons, etc, at this time but may explore limited themed drops like that in the future. If you are interested in creating cards on our platform and meet the criteria you can sign up and apply to be a card creator.
Are creators on the platform verified?
Yes, the Creators on the platform are verified. Prior to creating any drops we will require a verification step to confirm the identity of the creator to ensure they are who they say they are. This is part of the creator onboarding flows in the product. Verification may include asking the creator to post a secret message in an instagram or YouTube post, a verification phone call / Zoom, or other steps to verify their identity.
Are Fankado Cards NFTs?
No. Fankado cards are not NFTs and no crypto or blockchain is involved at all. You get a digital card in your Fankado collection and have the redemption right to order one physical copy of the card. At this time Fankado does not make use of any blockchain technology.
Can I trade digital cards?
Today, only physical cards can be traded or sold. The digital card is proof you own it and may enable benefits when those are offered by creators although there are no guarantees any cards will have benefits. Once you have the physical card on hand it is up to you what you do with it. In the future we may support transferring digital cards between users but it is not yet supported.
Can entertainers, athletes, politicians or brands participate?
Yes. While we’re focused on influencers and creators today, the platform also works for entertainers, athletes, and other famous people. At this time we are not supporting brands but if you are a brand looking to explore your options feel free to reach out to us.
